SES Youth Group - about About the Group

The St. Elizabeth Seton (SES) Youth Group is a Catholic organization run by the youth of the parish, for youth. Currently run by Peter Ennamorato, Mark Fitzgerald, Taunia Borsellino, Adrian Pawliszko and Christa MacDonald, the foundation is the youth. From the people who run the group, to those who organize events, to those who are members; the whole thing is by youth, for youth as together we celebrate our shared faith. Remember, that YOU are the group, the youth of the parish. It is with this joint cooperation that the group is run; everyone always has a say!

The current theme of the group is the Holy Spirit, the tongues of fire that appeared to the disciples and gave them power. The group's purpose is to spread the faith through Jesus' words and actions. The group focuses not only on scriptural and sacramental teachings, but also on community service and fun, inspiring yet learning events and experiences.

We meet every second Friday throughout most of the year, with tons of great events in between, from camping to dances, to community service and retreats. More information on the meetings, and our events can be found on our "events" page, of course. Our mission as a group is: "To invite, teach, support, build and grow young apostles. To create a fun, Jesus based environment where youth will desire to be, feeling welcomed, challenged and loved."

The group is for anyone between the ages of 13 and 19, and is perfect for anyone who wants to help out the community, meet new friends, learn to inspire, and deepen their faith. Don't be afraid to join; just come in to any of our meetings or social events - you'll thank yourself for it...

About the Site

This site was designed by one of the members of the Youth Group specifically for the group. In unison with the theme of the group, the theme of the site is also the Holy Spirit, particularly when it appeared to the disciples as tongues of flame. That can be seen throughout the site; from the header to the background, and also in our posters.

Also in the background, you can see three crosses, representing the three crosses that were presented on Galgotha the day that Jesus died. Above that is the WYD SYD 08 logo, the source of inspiration for the group.

The site is updated frequently as needed, especially the events and forums portion of the site. The forums are a perfect gathering place outside of meetings and events to talk to other members, and even to ask Fr. Roy any and all questions you may have. If you have any questions about the site or the group, please feel free to e-mail or PM any of the members of the group through the forums.

About the Parish

On September 14, 1975, Elizabeth Ann Seton was canonized, becoming the first American born person so honoured. An Episcopalian at birth in 1774, she converted to Catholicism while mourning her husband's death in Italy. Known as the mother of the U.S. parochial school system, she devoted much of her ministry to education until her death in 1821. After her, our parish was named.

The church has had its doors open since 1991, and is serving the Newmarket area to this day. For more history on the parish, please click here.
